on the arrival of your new puppy or kitten!
Gentle Touch Animal Hospital offers puppy and kitten preventive care programs designed to start your new family member off on the path to wellness. We provide comprehensive veterinary services throughout the lifetime of your pet.
Our puppy and kitten programs generally require three to four office visits and contain the following:
- Full physical exam
- Age and lifestyle appropriate vaccinations
- Heartworm and intestinal parasite prevention (deworming)
- Fecal exam
- Blood panel
- Spay or neuter
Spaying and Neutering
We recommend female puppies and kittens are spayed before they go into heat for the first time to prevent pregnancy. This generally occurs around 5 to 6 months of age.
Additionally, this maximizes the health benefits to your pet by decreasing their chances of getting:
- Breast cancer
- Uterine infection
We recommend male puppies and kittens be neutered between 5 months and 6 months of age. For male dogs and cats, the main purpose of neutering is to prevent them from developing:
- Unwanted behaviors—Aggression in dogs or urine spraying in cats
- Roaming—Looking for females in heat
- Testicular cancer
- Prostate disease
Gentle Touch Animal Hospital offers pet microchipping services. A pet microchip is approximately the size of a grain of rice and is injected just under the skin of your pet. Included in the cost of the microchip are the monitoring services provided by the microchip company.
In the event your pet becomes lost, veterinary hospitals and animal shelters can scan the pet to access the information on the microchip. You will be contacted, and reunited with your pet. A microchip can be inserted any time, but we recommend microchipping puppies and kittens during their spay or neuter surgery. Included with the cost of the microchip is the first year of monitoring.
We look forward to meeting the latest addition to your family, and we are accepting new clients. Please contact us to schedule an appointment.

Senior Pet Care
Determining the age at which your pet becomes a senior is based on many factors including size, breed, and lifestyle. As a general rule, when your pet turns 7 years of age we recommend they begin their senior care.
